Coltellerie Paolucci is a great company because it stems from a great family and a thousand-year-old tradition in Frosolone—the town with steel roots. Founded in 1972 by Felice, Liberato, and Saverio, who followed in the footsteps of their father and grandfather, the company has continued the path laid out by craftsmen since the Middle Ages, specializing in the production of cutting tools.

It represents one of the most iconic expressions of “Made in Italy” excellence: the artisanal manufacture of tools achieves a unique quality in this small town in inland Molise. This artistic craftsmanship embodies a millenary culture and the wisdom of master scissor- and knifemakers—a heritage that Coltellerie Paolucci has preserved over time, remaining faithful to tradition, its roots, and Italian artisanal excellence.

It is said that barbers could simply open and close a pair of scissors near their ear and, from the sound of the steel, immediately recognize a Paolucci product.

Today, Coltellerie Paolucci—internationally renowned—continues to deliver punctuality and passion, honoring the distinctive traits of a production process that has always prioritized quality at every stage. This result is achieved only through specific production phases, once referred to by local dialect names that precisely marked each step of the process. Artisans specializing in a particular phase even earned nicknames tied to their craft.

The long-term quality and reliability of these precious tools stem from the attention paid to every detail of the manufacturing process. For example, the two essential parts of a knife—the blade and the handle—receive equal care from the artisan.

The handle’s value originates from the selection of high-quality materials and the artisan’s deep knowledge of their treatment: excellence is achieved by blending elegance and functionality, resulting in a naturally comfortable grip.

To retain its characteristics over time, the blade must be made from a perfect alloy: steel, chromium, nickel, and vanadium are fused to ensure strength and hardness. Sharpening, once performed on large grinding wheels powered by foot pedals or the so-called “pescara” (a water-powered grinding wheel), is still carried out with the same dedication.

Even today, the production process respects traditional techniques and premium materials.
